| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Lelia Joyce Moore, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | December 28, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Joyce Moore was born to George Edward and Annie | ||||||
6 | Mae (Neil) Martin in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on November 23, | ||||||
7 | 1924; she immigrated with her family to Chicago when she was | ||||||
8 | three; she majored in music at Millikin University and | ||||||
9 | graduated with a teaching degree; she was a member and served | ||||||
10 | as chapter president of Pi Beta Phi Sorority; she was also a | ||||||
11 | member of the Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Upon graduation, Joyce Moore accepted a position | ||||||
13 | teaching music in Sullivan, where she met the fellow teacher, | ||||||
14 | J.C. Moore, who would become her husband in 1949; they moved to | ||||||
15 | Mattoon in 1962, and she then taught music at Franklin | ||||||
16 | Elementary School and Jefferson Junior High in Mattoon; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Joyce Moore was an avid reader who loved visiting | ||||||
18 | the library; she and her husband were master bridge players and | ||||||
19 | accomplished dancers and enjoyed playing golf together, | ||||||
20 | especially with their Friday night golf group with friends at | ||||||
21 | the Mattoon Country Club; they were both members of the First | ||||||
22 | Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years; she was devoted to |

1 | her family and was an inspiration to many; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Joyce Moore was preceded in death by her husband | ||||||
3 | and her granddaughter, Stacia Olsen; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Joyce Moore is survived by her three daughters, | ||||||
5 | Debbie (Chris) Olsen, Deanna (Chris) Andriano, and Julie (Doug) | ||||||
6 | Moore Wolfe; her grandchildren, Matt (Jeanine) Andriano, Paige | ||||||
7 | (Kevin) Toth, Lisa (Anthony) Julian, Bryce Olsen, Scott (Jenny) | ||||||
8 | Andriano, Travis (Alison Kite) Wolfe, Hannah Wolfe, and Mallory | ||||||
9 | Wolfe; and her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Anna, and Kate | ||||||
10 | Andriano, Henry, Sam, and Jack Toth, Jimmy, Emily, and Joseph | ||||||
11 | Julian, and Scarlett and Pearl Andriano; therefore, be it

12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
14 | Lelia Joyce Moore and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
15 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
16 | further

17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| ||||||
18 | presented to the family of Joyce Moore as an expression of
