House Bill 1842

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CLAIBORNE COUNTY TO ASSIST IN PAYING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH MAKING UPGRADES AND IMPROVEMENTS TO PARKS AND RECREATIONAL AREAS AND FACILITIES IN THE COUNTY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2025.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Board of Supervisors of Claiborne County, Mississippi, to assist in paying costs associated with making upgrades and improvements to parks and recreational areas and facilities in the county, as provided in Section 2, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024, and ending June 30, 2025.................... $ 1,500,000.00

     SECTION 2.  The money appropriated by Section 1 shall be used for the following purposes:

(a)  Upgrades and improvements to the Fairgrounds baseball field lights, scoreboard and related facilities.................

................................................... $ 400,000.00

(b)  Replacing the basketball court in Pattison with new concrete, goals, fencing, lighting, benches and related facilities and equipment.......................................... $ 200,000.00

(c)  Replacing three (3) older playgrounds at Russum, Pattison and the Fairgrounds................................. $ 300,000.00

(d)  Replacing the pavilion and bathrooms at the Hermanville ball field......................................... $ 300,000.00

(e)  Upgrades and improvements to the Fairgrounds softball field, including lights, infield surface, fencing, dugouts and press box................................................... $ 300,000.00

TOTAL............................................ $ 1,500,000.00

     SECTION 3.  The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2024.
