House Bill 21

AN ACT TO DIRECT THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH TO CONVERT 500 BEDS AT INTELLECTUAL/DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES FACILITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT THAT ARE NOT BEING USED FOR PROVIDING SERVICES TO THOSE PERSONS SO THAT THOSE BEDS MAY BE USED TO PROVIDE ALCOHOL AND DRUG USE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT SERVICES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The State Department of Mental Health shall convert five hundred (500) beds at facilities under the jurisdiction of the department for persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities that are not being used for providing services to those persons so that those beds may be used to provide alcohol and drug use prevention and treatment services.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
