House Bill 4054

AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO REGGIE LATRAIL TROTTER OF COVINGTON COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Reggie Latrail Trotter of Covington County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction for the crime of armed robbery on December 3, 2004, in Smith County, Mississippi, for which he was sentenced to serve fifteen (15) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, ten (10) years in custody and five (5) years under supervised probation.  

     He was discharged on June 17, 2014, and released from probation on July 17, 2019.  He completed all terms and conditions of his sentence.  The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2024.
