Senate Bill 2940

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FROM THE CAPITAL EXPENSE FUND TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDING TO THE MISSISSIPPI BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTER IN JACKSON TO ESTABLISH A BURN CENTER OR UNIT AT THE MEDICAL CENTER FOR FISCAL YEAR 2024.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the Capital Expense Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the State Department of Health for the purpose of providing funding to the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, to establish a burn center or unit at the medical center, for the fiscal year beginning on July 1, 2024, and ending June 30, 2025........................................ $ 4,000,000.00.

     SECTION 2.  As a condition of receiving the funds appropriated in Section 1 of this act, the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center shall enter into a written agreement with the State Department of Health providing that if the medical center expends or otherwise uses any of the funds received from the department for any purpose not authorized under this act, the medical center shall be required to pay the amount of the funds that were improperly expended or used to the State of Mississippi.

     SECTION 3.  The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the Capital Expense Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2024.
