A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to name the cape fear river bridge located in the town of tar heel in bladen county the "david b. melvin memorial bridge."

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Naming of Bridge. – Notwithstanding G.S. 136‑18(8) and any other provision of law to the contrary, the Department of Transportation shall name the Cape Fear River Bridge located in the Town of Tar Heel in Bladen County the "David B. Melvin Memorial Bridge."

SECTION 2.  Appropriation. – For the 2016‑2017 fiscal year, there is appropriated from the Highway Fund to the Department of Transportation the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000) in nonrecurring funds to be used for signage displaying the name of the David B. Melvin Memorial Bridge.

SECTION 3.  Effective Date. – This act becomes effective July 1, 2016.
