Assembly Resolution No. 2140 BY: M. of A. Norris CONGRATULATING Wayne Jagow upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 19th Annual Key to the Locks Award on May 18, 2024 WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Wayne Jagow upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 19th Annual Key to the Locks Award, to be recognized at the Erie Discovery Center on Saturday, May 18, 2024; and WHEREAS, The Key to the Locks Award was established in 2006 to recognize persons in Niagara County who exemplify the community spirit, or promote the heritage or preservation, of the historic Erie Canal; and WHEREAS, Wayne Jagow has been named the recipient of the 19th Annual Key to the Locks Award due to his lifetime of volunteer community service to residents and organizations of Niagara County; and WHEREAS, A retired and Lutheran minister, past Niagara County clerk, and past Niagara County Sheriff's deputy, has donated his time to numerous service organizations for over the past 40 years; and WHEREAS, With a strong belief in active community involvement, Wayne Jagow is an exempt member of Wrights Corners Volunteer Fire Company, a past member and president of the Cornell Cooperative Extension's Board of Directors, and a co-founder and past president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Niagara County; he also served on the Niagara County Commission on the Status of Women, was the first coordinator of the Niagara County Bicycle Safety and Junior Fire Setters Prevention programs, co-chaired the Niagara County Bicentennial Commission, and faithfully served with a number of other community associations; and WHEREAS, Wayne Jagow has been called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly; and WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his service, a period of constructive involvement, Wayne Jagow has stood constant in dignity, good grace, and humor; and WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Maureen, and their two children, Andrew and Bethany, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his plentiful achievements; and WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individual for the benefit of others which Wayne Jagow has displayed throughout his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate Wayne Jagow upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 19th Annual Key to the Locks Award on May 18, 2024; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Wayne Jagow.
