AN ACT
amending Title 15, chapter 7, article 5, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-790.01; relating to education.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 15, chapter 7, article 5, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-790.01, to read:
15-790.01. Appropriation; statewide information technology education and certification program; annual report; program termination
A. The sum of $5,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund each fiscal year to the department of education to establish a statewide information technology education and certification program in school districts and charter schools that provide instruction for pupils in kindergarten programs and grades one through twelve.
B. The department shall contract with at least one vendor to provide software licenses, courses and materials that prepare pupils for information technology industry certification.
C. Beginning October 15, 2015 and On or before October 15 of each year thereafter, the department shall prepare and submit to the governor, speaker of the house of representatives, president of the senate and secretary of state a report that contains:
1. The number of contracts awarded pursuant to this section.
2. A list of participating school districts, charter schools and joint technical education districts.
3. Performance data regarding the information technology education and certification program, including performance data regarding pupils participating in the program.
D. The program established by this section ends on July 1, 2024 pursuant to section 41‑3102.
