AN ACT

 

Appropriating monies to the department of economic security.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Appropriation; department of economic security; temporary emergency shelter; transitional housing; exemption

A.  The sum of $450,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2020-2021 to the department of economic security to distribute to the city of Cottonwood to develop a program for temporary emergency shelter and transitional housing services.  The city may contract with an established nonprofit entity that has experience dealing with the issues of homelessness in the area to operate the program.

B.  The appropriation made in subsection A of this section is exempt from the provisions of section 35-190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations.
