A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
proclaiming june 2020 as immigrant heritage month in arizona.

Whereas, in their pursuit of the American Dream, immigrants from around the world have made Arizona their home, which has strengthened this state's economy and enriched its cultural diversity; and
Whereas, one in eight Arizonans are immigrants or foreign-born, constituting the eleventh largest immigrant population in the United States; and
Whereas, fifty percent of Fortune 500 companies based in Arizona were founded by immigrants or their children, and these companies generate $98.9 billion in annual revenue and employ 134,330 people globally; and
Whereas, foreign-born Arizonans own an estimated 22.7 percent of businesses in the Phoenix metropolitan area despite comprising only 13.4 percent of the state's population; and
Whereas, immigrant-owned businesses employ 113,760 workers in Arizona and generate $1.3 billion in business income; and
Whereas, Arizona's immigrants have spending power of $16 billion in after-tax income and contribute a total of $5.4 billion a year in federal, state and local taxes; and
Whereas, Arizona's immigrants contribute greatly to advances in technology and science; and
Whereas, the United States is a nation of immigrants and is founded on the principle that we are all created equal.
Therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Arizona, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the Members of the Legislature proclaim the month of June 2020 as Immigrant Heritage Month in Arizona in honor of the many contributions and accomplishments of Arizona's immigrants and their children.
