An act to amend Section 11164 of the Insurance Code, relating to insurance.

AB 1462, as introduced, Daly. Fraternal benefit societies: solicitation.
Existing law makes it a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not less that $100 nor more than $400, for a person not authorized by the Insurance Commissioner to solicit members for the purpose of completing the organization of a fraternal benefit society to solicit membership for, or assisting in procuring membership for, a nonadmitted fraternal benefit society.
This bill would increase the amount of the fine described above to not less than $200 nor more than $500.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 11164 of the Insurance Code is amended to read:

11164.
 Any person not authorized pursuant to Section 11013 who solicits membership for, or in any manner assists in procuring membership in, any nonadmitted fraternal benefit society is guilty of a misdemeanor and punishable by fine a fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($100) two hundred dollars ($200) nor more than four hundred dollars ($400). five hundred dollars ($500).
