An act to amend Section 627.3 of the Penal Code, relating to crimes.

Existing law prohibits an outsider, as defined, from entering or remaining on school grounds during school hours without having registered with the principal or designee, except as specified. Existing law requires an outsider to provide specified information to the principal or designee to register, including their name, address, and occupation, purpose for being on school grounds, and proof of identity. Under existing law, an outsider who fails or refuses to leave school grounds promptly after being asked to leave or fails to remain off school grounds for 7 days is guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment in county jail for 6 months, or a fine of $500, or by both that fine and imprisonment.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to these provisions.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 627.3 of the Penal Code is amended to read:

627.3.
 (a) In order to register, an outsider shall upon request furnish the principal or designee with the following:
(1) His or her Their name, address, and occupation.
(2) His or her Their age, if less than 21.
(3) His or her Their purpose in entering school grounds.
(4) Proof of identity.
(5) Other information consistent with the purposes of this chapter and with other provisions of law.

(b) No person who furnishes the information and the proof of identity required by this section shall be refused registration except as provided by Section 627.4.
