BILL NUMBER: AB 2736 INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Feuer FEBRUARY 19, 2010 An act relating to employment. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2736, as introduced, Feuer. California Jobs Act of 2010. Existing law regulates wages, hours, safety, and other aspects of public and private employment. This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to reduce the number of unemployed persons in the state. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact a measure to be known as the "California Jobs Act of 2010" to address the following: (a) California has a significant role in both the national and international economy. (b) The Legislature has serious concern about the high unemployment rate in California and how that adversely impacts individuals and their families. (c) The Legislature recognizes that the United States is in a national economic crisis and that there is a need to explore, identify, analyze, and implement policies and programs that will create jobs and put thousands of Californians back to work. SEC. 2. It is the intent of the Legislature to request that the Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development report to the Legislature on the Labor and Workforce Development Agency's efforts to increase the number of employed California residents, including coordinating with the United States Department of Labor to maximize funding for workforce training and development. The report should also identify job creation opportunities in the areas of small business, infrastructure, the clean-green economy, and tax policy.
