LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
Existing law establishes, among other offices of county government, the office of county auditor and prescribes the duties of the county auditor. Existing law requires that the county auditor or, in counties that have the office of controller, the auditor-controller be the chief accounting officer of the county.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would allow employees of the county auditor or county auditor-controllers’ office, as applicable, to investigate cases of alleged fraud and abuse by county employees.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 830.13 of the Penal Code is amended to read:830.13.
(a) The following persons are not peace officers but may exercise the power to serve warrants as specified in Sections 1523 and 1530 during the course and within the scope of their employment, if they receive a course in the exercise of that power pursuant to Section 832. The authority and power of the persons designated under this section shall extend to any place in the state:It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would allow employees of the county auditor or county auditor-controllers’ office, as applicable, to investigate cases of alleged fraud and abuse by county employees.
