Crimes against children. Existing law makes it a misdemeanor for a parent of a minor child to willfully omit, without lawful excuse, to furnish necessary clothing, food, shelter, or medical attendance, or other remedial care for his or her child. This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to amend the Penal Code relating to preventing crimes against children. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no.
