AN ACT ESTABLISHING SAFEGUARDS AGAINST IMPROPER USE OF STATE-ADMINISTERED CASH ASSISTANCE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That title 17b of the general statutes be amended to require recipients of cash assistance administered by the Department of Social Services to (1) maintain a bank account dedicated solely to such cash assistance, and (2) use an associated debit card issued by said department only for purchases authorized by the department.
Statement of Purpose:
To prevent recipients of cash assistance from using benefits for illegitimate purposes.
