AN ACT REQUIRING THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION TO PREPARE A PLAN FOR THE RAPID DETECTION AND ERADICATION OF NEWLY DISCOVERED TERRESTRIAL INVASIVE SPECIES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2017) Not later than October 1, 2018, the Commissioner of Energy and Environmental Protection shall develop an early detection and rapid response and eradication plan for newly discovered terrestrial invasive species. Such plan shall include, but need not be limited to, educating the public regarding invasive species, training and coordinating volunteers to assist on invasive plant control projects and processes for the possible listing of such extra terrestrial invasive plants on the list of plants considered to be invasive or potentially invasive, as described in section 22a-381 of the general statutes.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||
