AN ACT CONCERNING INTIMIDATION ON ACCOUNT OF OCCUPATION AS PUBLIC SAFETY PERSONNEL.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That sections 53a-181i to 53a-181l, inclusive, of the general statutes, concerning the crime of intimidation based on bigotry or bias, be amended to make it a violation for a person, with the intent to intimidate or harass another person because of the actual or perceived occupation of such person as a police officer, firefighter or emergency medical technician, to assault or threaten, or damage the property of, such other person.
Statement of Purpose:
To protect police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians by making it a hate crime to assault or verbally attack a person because of the actual or perceived occupation of such person.
