146th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 26

CELEBRATING THE WEEK OF JANUARY 29TH THROUGH FEBRUARY 5TH AS CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK IN DELAWARE.



WHEREAS, since the first Catholic school opened in Delaware in 1830, Catholic education has steadily grown in popularity, a popularity grounded in an abiding record of student success and accomplishment; and

WHEREAS, the week of January 29th through February 5th has been designated as Catholic Schools Week in America; and

WHEREAS, the Catholic education is based upon the gospel of Jesus and his message of peace, justice and concern for humanity; and

WHEREAS, the Catholic school curriculum stresses academic excellence as well as the development of the entire student spiritually, mentally and physically, and encourages students to use their skills for the betterment of society; and

WHEREAS, since 1830, Catholic schools have educated tens of thousands of Delawareans at an enormous savings to the tax-paying public; and

WHEREAS, the values, moral teachings and discipline offered in Catholic schools have provided their students with the skills to take advantage of professional opportunities and to become productive members of society.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 146th General Assembly of the State of Delaware that , we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Delaware Catholic school system on the occasion of Catholic Schools Week.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon passage a suitably prepared and duly authenticated copy of this resolution be presented to The Most Reverend W. Francis Malooly, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington.


SYNOPSIS

This concurrent resolution celebrates the week of January 29h through February 5th as Catholic Schools Week in Delaware.
