House . . . . . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— The Committee on Criminal Justice (Burgess) recommended the following: 1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 2 3 Delete lines 23 - 34 4 and insert: 5 consultation with the Department of Elder Affairs and must 6 include, but need not be limited to, instruction on interacting 7 with persons with Alzheimer’s disease or a related form of 8 dementia, including instruction on techniques for recognizing 9 behavioral symptoms and characteristics, effective 10 communication, employing the use of alternatives to physical 11 restraints, and identifying signs of abuse, neglect, or 12 exploitation. Completion of the training component may count 13 toward the 40 hours of instruction for continued employment or 14 appointment as a law enforcement officer required under s. 15 943.135. 16 Section 2.
