This act may be cited as the “Arthur Green, Jr., 6 Act.” 7 Section 2. Section 943.1726, Florida Statutes, is created 8 to read: 9 943.1726 Continued employment training relating to diabetic 10 emergencies.—The department shall establish an online continued 11 employment training component relating to diabetic emergencies. 12 Instruction shall include, but need not be limited to, 13 recognition of symptoms of such an emergency, distinguishing 14 such an emergency from alcohol intoxication or drug overdose, 15 and appropriate first aid for such an emergency. Completion of 16 the training component may count toward the 40 hours of 17 instruction for continued employment or appointment as a law 18 enforcement officer as required under s. 943.135. 19 Section 3. This act shall take effect October 1, 2015. 20 21 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 22 And the title is amended as follows: 23 Delete everything before the enacting clause 24 and insert: 25 A bill to be entitled 26 An act relating to diabetes awareness training for law 27 enforcement officers; providing a short title; 28 creating s. 943.1726, F.S.; requiring the Department 29 of Law Enforcement to establish an online continued 30 employment training component relating to diabetic 31 emergencies; specifying topics to be included in the 32 instruction; providing that completion of the training 33 may count towards continued employment instruction 34 requirements; providing an effective date.
