Florida Senate - 2011 SB 750 By Senator Hays 20-01192-11 2011750__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to health benefit plans; creating s. 3 627.66991, F.S.; providing definitions; requiring 4 certain health benefit plans to authorize licensed 5 pharmacists and permitted pharmacies to serve as 6 participating pharmacy services providers for any of 7 the plan’s participants under certain circumstances; 8 providing an effective date. 9 10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11 12 Section 1. Section 627.66991, Florida Statutes, is created 13 to read: 14 627.66991 Health benefit plans; authorization of 15 participating pharmacy services providers.— 16 (1) As used in this section, the term: 17 (a) “Health benefit plan” has the same meaning as provided 18 in s. 627.6699. 19 (b) “Pharmacy services” means services provided by a 20 pharmacist as defined in s. 465.003 licensed to practice the 21 profession of pharmacy as defined in s. 465.003. 22 (2) A health benefit plan that provides pharmacy services 23 as a benefit must authorize a pharmacist licensed under chapter 24 465 or a pharmacy issued a permit under chapter 465, if the 25 pharmacist or pharmacy agrees to the plan’s terms, conditions, 26 reimbursement rates, and standards of quality, to serve as a 27 participating pharmacy services provider for any of the plan’s 28 participants. 29 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
