BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To
amend Chapter 7 of Title 43 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to barbers, so as to provide that a license to operate a barbershop may be
granted to mobile barbershops under certain conditions; to provide for related
matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Chapter
7 of Title 43 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to barbers, is
amended by revising Code Section 43-7-12, relating to license requirements to
operate a barbershop, as follows:
"43-7-12.
(a)
A license to operate a barbershop shall be issued, renewed, or restored to any
person who can show that such barbershop:
(1)
Provides and maintains such physical and sanitary facilities and equipment as
may be required by the rules and regulations of the board;
(2)
Does not train more than one apprentice at any one time, which apprentice shall
be under the supervision of a master barber; and
(3)
Does business only at the location shown on the application for
licensure.
(b)
A license to operate a mobile barbershop shall be issued, renewed, or restored
to any licensed barber who can show that such mobile barbershop provides and
maintains such physical and sanitary facilities and equipment as shall be
required by rules and regulations promulgated by the board. Only barbering and
no other business shall be conducted from a mobile barbershop. A mobile
barbershop shall be subject to such business licenses, health and sanitation
standards, and other requirements imposed upon stationary barbershops by
ordinance or resolution of each county and municipality in which that mobile
barbershop does business. Mobile barbershops shall not train
apprentices."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
