A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Kaiser Permanente of Georgia and its Downtown Decatur Medical Office; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the citizens of Georgia and Decatur have been looking forward with great anticipation to the grand opening of the Kaiser Permanente Downtown Decatur Medical Office; and

WHEREAS, Kaiser Permanente of Georgia proudly opened the doors for service to its Kaiser Permanente Downtown Decatur Medical Office on Friday, January 29, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Kaiser Permanente of Georgia is this state's largest nonprofit health care provider, serving more than 260,000 members in the 28 county metro Atlanta area; and

WHEREAS, the grand opening of the Kaiser Permanente Downtown Decatur Medical Office will provide efficient and effective health care to approximately 5,000 members; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of the opening of its Downtown Decatur Medical Office and the dedicated employees and clinicians of this new facility, Kaiser Permanente of Georgia is awarding a $10,000.00 grant to the Decatur Education Foundation's Farm to School initiative which will teach families, individuals, and schools to grow vegetables and increase consumption of healthy foods; and

WHEREAS, named the Healthy Eating, Active Living Grant, this generous grant is part of Kaiser Permanente's national effort to educate and inform the public on the importance of having good nutrition and increasing physical activity in order to live a long, happy, and healthy life; and

WHEREAS, employees and clinicians of Kaiser Permanente have consistently demonstrated their commitment to giving back to their community through their work with such initiatives as Healthy Belvedere, the DeKalb County School System, the DeKalb County Board of Health, the United Way, the March of Dimes, and Earth Share Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the Kaiser Permanente Downtown Decatur Medical Center will provide members with convenient, high quality health care and will vitalize and uplift the economy of DeKalb County and Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Kaiser Permanente of Georgia and its 19 medical centers in this state for providing quality and efficient medical care and recognize the Kaiser Permanente Downtown Decatur Medical Center on the occasion of its grand opening.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Kaiser Permanente of Georgia.
