A RESOLUTION

Congratulating the Sandy Creek High School football team on winning the 2010 GHSA Class AAA State Championship and inviting the team to be recognized by the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, through training, talent, and iron will, the Sandy Creek High School football team earned the top ranking in the state with their exciting 14-7 win over Carrollton High School; and

WHEREAS, the talented Patriots have now claimed back-to-back state championship titles and have claimed the regional champions for three consecutive years; and

WHEREAS, the 2010 Patriots demonstrated great perseverance, determination, and focus by winning every game in 2010, earning the most important title as state champions, and ending the season undefeated; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of head coach Chip Walker and team captains Ronnie Bell, Alex Chisum, Bruce Dukes, Jamal Ware, and Gavin Rocker; and

WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is abundantly proper to call them champions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the Sandy Creek High School football team for winning the 2010 GHSA Class AAA State Championship, extend their sincere best wishes for future success, and invite them to be recognized by the House of Representatives at an appropriate date and time to be designated by the Speaker of the House.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the players and coaches of the 2010 Sandy Creek High School football team.
