RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Ken LeCain; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Ken LeCain has long been recognized for his superior coaching skills, his
dedication to challenging the future leaders of Georgia, and his incredible
devotion to developing responsible and successful young athletes;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. LeCain has served as athletic director at Statesboro High School for 13
years and has been named Georgia Class AAAA Athletic Director of the Year by the
Georgia Athletic Directors Association; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. LeCain earned bachelor's, master's, and specialist's degrees from Georgia
Southern University, obtained a doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern
University, and began his career with the Bulloch County School System in 1991
as a physical education teacher at Julia P. Bryant Elementary School;
and
WHEREAS,
he has been involved with Statesboro High School athletics for 20 years, serving
as a baseball and football coach for numerous years, and became the school's
assistant principal in 2000, supervising 30 faculty and nearly 300 students;
and
WHEREAS,
as athletic director at Statesboro, Mr. LeCain manages athletics for one of the
area's largest high schools that has a staff of 23 coaches, over 600 athletes,
and 18 different sports; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. LeCain manages game contracts, travel, athlete registrations and
eligibility, equipment, game supervision, and referees for each sport; oversees
the work of athletic boosters, fundraisers, and event game receipts; serves as
liaison to athletes' parents; and oversees the development, maintenance, and
leasing of athletic facilities; and
WHEREAS,
he has been named Region 2-AAAA Athletic Director of the Year four times and
serves as secretary for GHSA Region 2-AAAA, which encompasses 12 schools from
Brunswick to Augusta; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. LeCain is united in love and marriage to his wife, Karen, and he has been
blessed with a remarkable son, Kyle; and
WHEREAS,
there are hundreds of students who have learned many valuable and lasting life
principles through the example set by Mr. LeCain; and
WHEREAS,
he brought out the superior athletic ability of his players and served as a role
model and mentor to his teams; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of his contributions to the students in this state, it is
abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary
commitment and accomplishments of this outstanding individual.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize Mr. Ken LeCain for his decades of service to the future
leaders of this state, commend his commitment to the student-athletes of
Georgia, and congratulate him upon being named Georgia Class AAAA Athletic
Director of the Year.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Ken
LeCain.
