RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Miss Lenora Reese; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Miss Lenora Reese; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Reese was born on May 10, 1941, in Kingston, Georgia, a beloved daughter of
the late Alonzo and Anna Will Reese, Sr.; and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Ms. Reese was an active member of The Perfect
Church since 1975; and
WHEREAS,
she received her education in the Floyd County and Atlanta Public School
Systems, was later licensed in cosmetology, and eventually found her calling in
the food service industry; and
WHEREAS,
active in her community, Ms. Reese was a member of the Beloved Mothers group,
was known for a special project called Lenora's Kitchen and Ruddie's Grill, and
aided the community with the generous donations she provided; and
WHEREAS,
she was known as "Mama Lenora" to her employees at The Beautiful Restaurants
where she served as a general manager at all four locations from 1980 until 1998
and continued to serve as general manager of the Cascade location after the
closing of three of them; and
WHEREAS,
she sponsored many special events for the H.I.L. Center, the Educational
Ministry, and the Outreach Ministry; and
WHEREAS,
she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she
demonstrated to her family and friends were admired by others; and
WHEREAS,
she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example she made of
her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous woman, Ms. Reese will long be remembered for her
love of family and friendship, and this loyal daughter, employee, and friend
will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing her.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
honoring the life and memory of Miss Lenora Reese and express their deepest and
most sincere regret at her passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Miss Lenora
Reese.
