A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to education.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding three new sections to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§302A- Public school safety. The board, in cooperation with the police and fire departments of each county, shall adopt uniform rules, policies, and procedures to identify, report, track, and respond to threats or potential threats of violence against students in public schools and implement emergency procedures to protect students from violence in public schools.
§302A- Bullying policy. The board shall adopt a policy that prohibits bullying of a student by another student and shall require the prohibition to be included in the student code of conduct.
§302A- Behavioral intervention. The board shall develop and implement programs to identify and assist students with anger management or alienation issues."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
