A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO CONFIDENTIAL PERSONAL INFORMATION.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION
1. Section 708-800, Hawaii
Revised Statutes, is amended by amending the definition of "confidential
personal information" to read as follows:
""Confidential
personal information" means information in which an individual has a significant privacy interest,
including but not limited to [a] an individual's entire driver's
license number[, a] or social security number[, an];
the entire identifying number of [a] an individual's depository,
investment, or credit account[, a bank account number, a password or
other information that is used for accessing information, or any other name,
number, or code that is used, alone or in conjunction with other information,
to confirm the identity of a person.]; an individual's entire credit
card number or medical record number; or a username and password that, when
used in conjunction, provide access to an individual's credit card account,
medical records, or depository, investment, or credit account."
SECTION 2. This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun before its effective date.
SECTION 3. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.
