HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

Recognizing the fiftieth anniversary of the Older americans act and designating may as "older americans month" in hawaii.

 

 


     WHEREAS, the Older Americans Act passed Congress in 1965; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Older Americans Act has been instrumental in delivering nutrition and social services to older persons across the country; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Older Americans Act has provided for community service employment for low-income older Americans; training, research, and demonstration activities in the field of aging; and support for vulnerable elder rights protection; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Older Americans Act has provided targeted programs and services for Native Hawaiian elders; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2015, the Senate concurring, that the month of May of each year be designated "Older Americans Month" in Hawaii in recognition of the fiftieth anniversary of the Older Americans Act and of all the contributions made by older Americans in the State of Hawaii; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Governor and the Director of Health.
