HOUSE RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING CHADWICK KAMEI ON HIS INDUCTION INTO THE BANDWORLD LEGION OF HONOR.
WHEREAS, the people of Hawaii take great pride in recognizing and honoring the superb achievements and notable contributions of educators who, through their extraordinary dedication and personal efforts, significantly improve the quality of education for the students of this State; and
WHEREAS, the Bandworld Legion of Honor was established in 1989 by the John Philip Sousa Foundation to honor the finest band directors across the country; and
WHEREAS, CHADWICK KAMEI is the 2015 Laureate for the Bandworld Legion of Honor; he has been honored for his extraordinary efforts in demonstrating initiative, creativity, and productivity at Pearl City High School and for maintaining high standards of teaching excellence and establishing a learning environment that creates an exuberance for learning among students; and
WHEREAS, a music program director at Pearl City High School, CHADWICK KAMEI has enabled his students to display their extraordinary talent, and has brought national attention to Pearl City High School's music program, which include: the Charger Marching Band performing in the 81st McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago, Illinois, and past performances in parades such as the Tournament of Roses Parade, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, as well as performances in China, Japan, and England; and
WHEREAS, particular recognition is also extended to Pearl City High School's administration and faculty, Band Booster Club, and fellow colleagues Lee Ikeda and Christopher Lopez, for their support and guidance in helping CHADWICK KAMEI attain this honor; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2016, that this body hereby commends and congratulates CHADWICK KAMEI, who has been named a laureate and inducted into the Bandworld Legion of Honor, for providing outstanding leadership and mentorship for the students of Pearl City High School and touching the hearts of the people of Hawaii with the power of music, and extends to him its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
