HOUSE RESOLUTION
Congratulating the 2015 Hawai‘i Healthcare Heroes for the outstanding and exemplary care they have delivered to patients and their loved ones across the state.
WHEREAS, many of the state's healthcare professionals toil in anonymity, aiding those in need and providing comfort to families without recognition and doing so without any other intent but to improve the quality of life for patients and their loved ones; and
WHEREAS, the Healthcare Association of Hawai‘i, an organization created in 1939 which represents 160 care-provider organizations within the state, decided to provide a vehicle for patients to recognize healthcare professionals who have had profound impacts on the lives of these patients and their families; and
WHEREAS, in 2015, five healthcare professionals were selected from a large field of nominees for this recognition as representing the types of individuals who routinely provide a quality of care that goes above and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Kathy Krammer, MS, CCC-SLP, RN, a Senior Speech, Language, Swallowing Pathologist at the Queen's Medical Center, Outpatient Rehabilitation program, is a co-founder of a head and neck cancer support group as well as a group facilitator; and
WHEREAS, Grace Porras, a licensed practical nurse at Maunalani Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, worked several years as an emergency nurse, and has supported patients for over 22 years; and
WHEREAS, Jim Stremick, MPT, a Physical Therapist at Prime Care Services Hawai‘i, Inc, has helped to rehabilitate seriously injured patients for over 15 years; and
WHEREAS, Warren Tamamoto, MD, the Chief of Pulmonology at Kaiser Permanente Hawai‘i's Moanalua Medical Center, has treated patients suffering from lung diseases for over 35 years; and
WHEREAS, Juliette Zelda, MD, a surgeon at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, specializes in laparoscopic and colorectal surgery, and has served as trauma medical director; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawai‘i, Regular Session of 2016, that this body recognizes these five outstanding individuals who treat their patients with a level of compassion and care that far exceeds expectations and extends to them its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success.
