SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A LEASE COVERING A PORTION OF STATE SUBMERGED LANDS AT PIERS 24 TO 26 IN HONOLULU HARBOR, OAHU, FOR PACIFIC SHIPYARDS INTERNATIONAL.
WHEREAS, as part of the Honolulu Harbor Master Plan for the Kapalama Container Terminal, the State is developing a new overseas container terminal in Honolulu Harbor, Oahu; and
WHEREAS, Pacific Shipyards International, which operates the only commercial ship repair facility in Honolulu Harbor, is being relocated by the State from Pier 41 to Piers 24 to 26; and
WHEREAS, submerged lands for property bound by Piers 24 to 26 are contemplated to be used for shipyard drydock operations and vessels under repair as part of the lease agreement; and
WHEREAS, section 171-53, Hawaii Revised Statutes, requires the prior approval of the Governor and prior authorization of the Legislature by concurrent resolution for this disposition of state submerged lands; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-seventh Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2014, the House of Representatives concurring, that the Department of Transportation, with the prior approval of the Board of Land and Natural Resources, is hereby authorized to issue a lease for a term coextensive with the term of the ground lease for the fast lands adjacent to Pacific Shipyards International covering a portion of state submerged lands fronting the property bound by Piers 24 to 26, identified as "LOT 12" and tax map keys 1-5-38-1 (portion), 1-5-38-11 (portion), 1-5-38-17 (portion), 1-5-38-23 (portion), 1-5-38-57 (portion), 1-5-38-68 (portion), 1-5-38-72 (portion), 1-5-38-73 (portion), and 1-5-38-74 (portion), and has an area of 91,350 square feet; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Director of Transportation and the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources.
