Legal
instruction
——

practice

law.

Instruction
of
students
in
a
course
offered
by
a
recognized

law
school
in
this
state
shall
constitute
the
practice
of
law,

except
that
instruction
of
students
for
up
to
two
consecutive
5
years
shall
not
constitute
the
practice
of
the
law.

Sec.
2.
EFFECTIVE
DATE.
This
Act
takes
effect
January
1,
7
2022.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
10
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
categorizes
the
instruction
of
students
seeking
a
12
law
degree
in
the
state
of
Iowa
as
the
practice
of
law,
except
13
that
instruction
of
students
for
up
to
two
consecutive
years
14
shall
not
constitute
the
practice
of
law.
A
person
must
obtain
15
a
license
prior
to
engaging
in
the
practice
of
law
in
Iowa.
16
The
bill
takes
effect
January
1,
2022.
