  1  1    Section 1.  Section 231.23, Code 2015, is amended by adding
  1  2 the following new subsection:
  1  3    NEW SUBSECTION.  8A.  Establish an evidence=based depression
  1  4 screening and treatment program for older individuals.
  1  5    Sec. 2.  Section 231.33, Code 2015, is amended by adding the
  1  6 following new subsection:
  1  7    NEW SUBSECTION.  8A.  Administer an evidence=based
  1  8 depression screening and treatment program for older
  1  9 individuals.
  1 10                           EXPLANATION
  1 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 12 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 13    This bill requires the department on aging to establish an
  1 14 evidence=based depression screening and treatment program for
  1 15 older individuals to be administered by each area agency on
  1 16 aging.
