  1  1    Section 1.  Section 99D.14, subsection 2, paragraph a,
  1  2 subparagraph (1), Code 2016, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    (1)  A licensee shall pay a regulatory fee to be charged as
  1  4 provided in this section. In determining the regulatory fee
  1  5 to be charged as provided under this section, the commission
  1  6 shall use the amount appropriated to the commission plus the
  1  7 cost of salaries, including the cost of any salary adjustments,
  1  8  for no more than three special agents for each racetrack that
  1  9 has not been issued a table games license under chapter 99F
  1 10  or no more than three special agents for each racetrack that
  1 11 has been issued a table games license under chapter 99F, plus
  1 12 any direct and indirect support costs for the agents, for the
  1 13 division of criminal investigation's racetrack activities, as
  1 14 the basis for determining the amount of revenue to be raised
  1 15 from the regulatory fee.
  1 16    Sec. 2.  Section 99F.10, subsection 4, paragraph a,
  1 17 subparagraph (2), Code 2016, is amended to read as follows:
  1 18    (2)  On or after July 1, 2016, the cost of salaries,
  1 19 including the cost of any salary adjustments, for no more
  1 20 than three special agents for each excursion gambling boat or
  1 21 gambling structure, plus any direct and indirect support costs
  1 22 for the agents, for the division of criminal investigation's
  1 23 excursion gambling boat or gambling structure activities.
  1 24                           EXPLANATION
  1 25 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 26 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 27    This bill amends Code sections 99D.14 and 99F.10 to provide
  1 28 that salary adjustment costs are included within the cost of
  1 29 salaries for gaming enforcement special agents when calculating
  1 30 the regulatory fee paid by racetrack, excursion gambling boat,
  1 31 or gambling structure licensees to the racing and gaming
  1 32 commission.
