  1  1    Section 1.  REPEAL.  2000 Iowa Acts, chapter 1002, section
  1  2 7, is repealed.
  1  3                           EXPLANATION
  1  4 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1  5 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1  6    This bill removes legislative intent from the 2000 Iowa
  1  7 Acts prohibiting the dental board from adopting rules that
  1  8 would allow a dental assistant to administer local anesthesia,
  1  9 place sealants, or remove any plaque, stain, calculus, or hard
  1 10 natural or synthetic material except by toothbrush, floss, or
  1 11 rubber cup coronal polish. Currently in Code section 153.38,
  1 12 the board has authority to determine the scope of practice for
  1 13 dental assistants by administrative rule.
