  1  1    Section 1.  Section 303.8, subsection 2, paragraph b, Code
  1  2 2016, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    b.  Maintain research centers in Des Moines and Iowa City and
  1  4 ensure the centers remain open and accessible to the public for
  1  5 a minimum of thirty=six hours per calendar week.
  1  6                           EXPLANATION
  1  7 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1  8 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1  9    This bill requires the state historical society board of
  1 10 trustees to ensure that the research centers located in Des
  1 11 Moines and Iowa City remain open for a minimum of 36 hours per
  1 12 calendar week.
