  1  1    Section 1.  Section 272.2, subsection 7, Code 2015, is
  1  2 amended to read as follows:
  1  3    7.  Hire an executive director, legal counsel, and other
  1  4 personnel and control the personnel administration of persons
  1  5 employed by the board.
  1  6                           EXPLANATION
  1  7 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1  8 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1  9    This bill removes an inconsistency regarding the employment
  1 10 of the executive director of the board of educational
  1 11 examiners.
  1 12    Prior to 2012, the board had exclusive authority to hire
  1 13 its executive director.  In 2012, legislation was enacted that
  1 14 directed the governor to appoint the executive director subject
  1 15 to senate confirmation.  The bill resolves the inconsistency
  1 16 by striking the language authorizing the board to hire an
  1 17 executive director.
