NEW SECTION. 35C.9 Veterans preference == 1 2 information clearinghouse. 1 3 1. The department of workforce development shall establish 1 4 a clearinghouse for the purpose of providing information to the 1 5 state, political subdivisions of the state, and veterans who 1 6 are citizens and residents of the United States, concerning the 1 7 rights and duties relating to providing veterans preference as 1 8 required by this chapter. 1 9 2. The information provided, which shall include a written 1 10 statement in plain language concerning the rights and duties 1 11 of this chapter, shall be developed by the department of 1 12 workforce development in consultation with the office of the 1 13 attorney general. The information provided shall also include 1 14 information concerning the enforcement of the requirements of 1 15 this chapter. 1 16 3. The internet site for the department of workforce 1 17 development, the office of the attorney general, and the 1 18 department of veterans affairs shall include a link to the 1 19 information provided pursuant to this section. 1 20 EXPLANATION 1 21 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 1 22 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. 1 23 This bill requires the department of workforce development 1 24 to establish a clearinghouse for the purpose of providing 1 25 information on Code chapter 35C concerning veterans preference. 1 26 The bill requires that the department develop the information 1 27 provided in consultation with the office of the attorney 1 28 general and include information concerning the enforcement of 1 29 the requirements of Code chapter 35C. The bill requires the 1 30 department of workforce development, department of veterans 1 31 affairs, and the office of the attorney general to include a 1 32 link on their internet site to the information provided as 1 33 required by this bill.
