S.F. 305 Section 1. Section 53.11, subsection 1, paragraph b, Code 1 2011, is amended to read as follows: 2 b. A satellite absentee voting station established by 3 petition must be open at least one day for a minimum of six 4 hours. A satellite absentee voting station established at the 5 direction of the commissioner or by petition may remain open 6 until 5:00 p.m. on the day before the election. A satellite 7 absentee voting station established on private property shall 8 be open only at a time when such private property is open to the 9 general public and free from any activity that creates or would 10 create the appearance of preferential access by members of any 11 race, religion, or ethnic group or by persons of either gender. 12 EXPLANATION 13 This bill provides that a satellite absentee voting station 14 established on private property shall be open only at a 15 time when the private property is open to the general public 16 and free from any activity that creates or would create the 17 appearance of preferential access by members of any race, 18 religion, or ethnic group or by persons of either gender. 19 -1- LSB 1985SS (3) 84 sc/nh 1/ 1
