Amends the State Board of Education Article of the School Code. Creates the Air Quality in Schools Task Force. Provides that the purpose of the task force is to study and make recommendations to the General Assembly on air quality goals for elementary, middle and high schools, processes to assess current ventilation systems in schools, processes to improve ventilation after assessment, and potential State and federal funding sources to improve school school air quality in the State. Sets forth members of the task force. Provides that the State Board shall provide administrative assistance and necessary staff support services. Provides that the task force shall issue a report on air quality goals for elementary, middle and high schools, processes to assess current ventilation systems in schools, processes to improve ventilation after assessment, and potential State and federal funding sources to improve school school air quality in the State.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
5 | | 2-3.196 as follows:

7 | | Sec. 2-3.196. Air Quality in Schools Task Force |
8 | | (a) The Air Quality in Schools Task Force is created. The |
9 | | purpose of the task force is to study and make recommendations |
10 | | to the General Assembly on air quality goals for elementary, |
11 | | middle and high schools, processes to assess current |
12 | | ventilation systems in schools, processes to improve |
13 | | ventilation after assessment, and potential State and federal |
14 | | funding sources to improve school school air quality in the |
15 | | State. |
16 | | The Commission shall consist of the following members: |
17 | | (1) One member appointed by the Speaker of the House |
18 | | of Representatives. |
19 | | (2) One member appointed by the Minority Leader of the |
20 | | House of Representatives. |
21 | | (3) One member appointed by the President of the |
22 | | Senate. |
23 | | (4) One member appointed by the Minority Leader of the |
