Bill Title: Creates the Sudden Cardiac Death Prevention Screening Act. Defines "sport" and "student athlete". Provides that a student athlete over the age of 12 must undergo sudden cardiac death screening before the student athlete may participate in sports. Provides that a student athlete must undergo sudden cardiac death screening once in middle school or high school and then once before postsecondary-education-level sports.

New Act
Creates the Sudden Cardiac Death Prevention Screening Act. Defines "sport" and "student athlete". AN ACT concerning education.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Sudden
Cardiac Death Prevention Screening Act.
Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act:
"Sport" means any activity organized by the school where
student athletes compete against one another or against other
schools for enjoyment and entertainment.
"Student athlete" means a student who is in any type of
school, including, but not limited to, middle school, high
school, or postsecondary education, that participates in a
sport.
Section 10. Screening for sudden cardiac death.
(a) A student athlete over the age of 12 must undergo
sudden cardiac death screening before the student athlete may
participate in sports.
(b) A student athlete must undergo sudden cardiac death
screening once in middle school or high school and once before
postsecondary-education-level sports.
