Amends the School Breakfast and Lunch Program Act. As a part of the school lunch program, requires a school district to provide a plant-based school lunch option to those students who submit a prior request to the school district requesting a plant-based school lunch option. Effective immediately.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Breakfast and Lunch Program Act is |
| 5 | | amended by adding Section 5.5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 125/5.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 5.5. Plant-based school lunch option. As a part of |
| 8 | | the school lunch program, a school district shall provide a |
| 9 | | plant-based school lunch option to those students who submit a |
| 10 | | prior request to the school district requesting a plant-based |
| 11 | | school lunch option.

| 12 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 13 | | becoming law.
