1 AN ACT concerning revenue.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Property Tax Code is amended by changing
5Section 20-5 as follows:
6 (35 ILCS 200/20-5)
7 Sec. 20-5. Mailing tax bill to owner. Every township
8collector, and every county collector in cases where there is
9no township collector, upon receiving the tax book or books,
10shall prepare tax bills showing each installment of property
11taxes assessed, which shall be filled out in accordance with
12Section 20-40. A copy of the bill shall be mailed by the
13collector, at least 30 days prior to the date upon which unpaid
14taxes become delinquent, to the owner of the property taxed or
15to the person in whose name the property is taxed. As an
16alternative to mailing a copy of the bill, the collector may
17send the tax bill via e-mail at the request of the taxpayer. If
18the taxpayer makes such a request, then the taxpayer shall
19notify the collector of any change in his or her e-mail address
20as soon as possible after the address is changed.
