Defines cultivated meat. |

1 | | AN ACT concerning regulation.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
5 | | Illinois Cultivated Meat Act.
|
6 | | Section 5. Finding and purpose. The General Assembly finds |
7 | | that the manufacture, sale, and distribution of cultivated |
8 | | meat is a threat to the health, safety, and welfare of the |
9 | | people of the State of Illinois. It is the purpose of this Act |
10 | | to prevent and prohibit the manufacture, sale, and |
11 | | distribution of cultivated meat in the State of Illinois.

12 | | Section 10. Definition of cultivated meat. In this Act, |
13 | | "cultivated meat" means any meat or food product produced from |
14 | | cultured animal cells.

15 | | Section 15. Cultivated meat unlawful. It is unlawful for |
16 | | any person to manufacture for sale, sell, hold or offer for |
17 | | sale, or distribute cultivated meat.

18 | | Section 20. Penalties. A person who knowingly violates |
19 | | this Act commits a Class C misdemeanor.
