2 | | WHEREAS, The rates of unintentional injuries and deaths in |
3 | | the United States remain at unacceptable levels; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Risk identification, pandemic-related safety |
5 | | concerns, psychological safety, and advancing organizational |
6 | | safety remain critical to preventing injuries and deaths in |
7 | | the United States; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, The cost of unintentional injuries to Americans |
9 | | and their employers exceeds $1,097.9 billion each year and |
10 | | causes great suffering among individuals and their families; |
11 | | and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Illinois residents and all Americans deserve to |
13 | | live in communities that promote safe and healthy living; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Preventing unintentional injuries and deaths |
15 | | requires the cooperation of all levels of government, |
16 | | employers, and the general public; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, The National Safety Council, founded in 1913, was |
18 | | congressionally chartered in 1953 to lead this nation in |
19 | | injury prevention through safety and health information, |
20 | | education, training, and advocacy in the United States; and
