| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Senate Apartments | ||||||
| 4 | on the occasion of its 30th anniversary on November 18, 2011; | ||||||
| 5 | and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Senate Apartments is managed by the Elderly | ||||||
| 7 | Housing Development and Operations Corporation (EHDOC); the | ||||||
| 8 | complex is a 240-unit, low-income, senior housing facility | ||||||
| 9 | located on the northwest side of Chicago in an area called | ||||||
| 10 | North Park Village; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Senate Apartments is the result of the combined | ||||||
| 12 | efforts of the Chicago Metropolitan Area Senior Citizens | ||||||
| 13 | (CMASCS), under the tireless direction of Mr. Jerry Prete, the | ||||||
| 14 | National Council of Senior Citizens (NCSC), and the Department | ||||||
| 15 | of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Senate Apartments was originally planned for the | ||||||
| 17 | site of St. Xavier University on the southwest side of Chicago; | ||||||
| 18 | and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Senate Apartments opened in the spring of 1981 at | ||||||
| 20 | the North Park Village site, with the sole intent of working | ||||||
| 21 | with and caring for the senior citizens who reside there; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Senate Apartments provides quality, affordable | ||||||
| 2 | senior housing with amenities, where residents enjoy peace of | ||||||
| 3 | mind, comfort, and security; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Senate Apartments has professional, | ||||||
| 5 | specially-trained on-site management that is committed to | ||||||
| 6 | ensuring that apartments, common areas, and grounds are | ||||||
| 7 | well-maintained; Senate Apartments, encourages residents to | ||||||
| 8 | "age in place" and to live independently with dignity and | ||||||
| 9 | self-determination in a community with their peers; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Senate Apartments, has outstanding service | ||||||
| 11 | coordinators that identify and partner with resources in the | ||||||
| 12 | surrounding community to provide needed services; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Senate Apartments is considered to be one of the | ||||||
| 14 | nicest senior citizen apartment buildings in the nation; | ||||||
| 15 | therefore, be it

| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 18 | we congratulate Senate Apartments on the occasion of its 30th | ||||||
| 19 | anniversary and wish its residents and employees continued | ||||||
| 20 | success and happiness in the future; and be it further
| ||||||
