HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, After 39 years of dedicated service, Kevin D.
3Schoeplein will retire on October 20, 2017 as Chief Executive
4Officer of OSF Healthcare System, an integrated health care
5system providing compassionate care to over three million
6people in Illinois and Michigan; and
7 WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein earned his Bachelor of Science in
8Business Administration from St. Louis University and two
9master's degrees from Xavier University in Cincinnati - a
10Master of Business Administration with a concentration in
11Finance and a Master of Healthcare Administration; in 2015,
12Xavier University honored him with the Distinguished Alumni
13Service Award for his outstanding contribution in health
14services administration; and
15 WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein began his career at OSF in July
16of 1978 as an assistant administrator at OSF Saint Francis
17Medical Center in Peoria; he was appointed administrator/CEO at
18OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford in 1983; and
19 WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein returned to Peoria in 1988 to
20serve as President of OSF Saint Francis, Inc., where he
21launched new business lines and developed the OSF Medical
22Group; additionally, he was responsible for the OSF Healthcare

1Foundation and became its first president; and
2 WHEREAS, From 1996 to 1999, Kevin Schoeplein served as CEO
3of the OSF Northern Illinois/Michigan Region; in 1999, he began
4leading OSF HealthPlans as its president until the successful
5sale to Humana in May of 2008; he then became Executive Vice
6President of the OSF Healthcare System; and
7 WHEREAS, In February of 2011, Kevin Schoeplein became CEO
8of OSF Healthcare System with a focus on integrated healthcare
9and transforming healthcare to improve lives; he led the
10advancement of OSF HealthCare to become one of the original
11Pioneer Accountable Care Organizations and facilitated
12tremendous growth in the OSF Medical Group; under his
13leadership, OSF has earned recognition by Truven as a
14nationally top performing healthcare system in 2015, 2016, and
152017; and
16 WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein's vision for One OSF, a truly
17integrated healthcare delivery system, has now become a
18powerful reality; as CEO, he led the growth of OSF from seven
19hospitals to 13; he developed the Jump Trading Simulation and
20Education Center; he established the OSF Innovation agenda to
21bring together providers, engineers, and data scientists to
22transform healthcare; he has established OSF as one of the
23largest and most respected employers in Illinois; and

1 WHEREAS, In June 2014, Kevin Schoeplein was recognized
2nationally for leading change by becoming a founder member on
3the Health Care Transformation Task Force, a national industry
4consortium, in which he currently serves on its board and its
5executive committee; he is also a member of the Illinois Health
6and Hospital Association Board of Trustees and IHA Executive
7Committee and serves as chair of the IHA Transforming Illinois
8Healthcare Task Force; additionally, he has served on the board
9of directors for the Illinois Catholic Health Association; and
10 WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein has been married to his
11incredible wife, Lisa, for 39 years; Kevin and Lisa have five
12children, Stacie (Neil) Clayton and their children, Reagan,
13Oliver, and Zoe; Molly (Jeff) Ziegler and their children,
14Olivia, Elena, Isaac, and Collette; Chris (Tami) and his son,
15Henry; Ashley (Adam) Gagnon; and Matt; therefore, be it
16 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18commend Kevin Schoeplein for his outstanding service and
19innovation in the field of healthcare on behalf of the people
20of Illinois and wish him a long and happy retirement; and be it
21further
22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

2and respect.
