HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Officer
4Luis M. Huesca, who was killed while driving home following
5his end-of-shift as a member of the Chicago Police Department
6on April 21, 2024 at the age of 30; and
7 WHEREAS, Officer Huesca was born in the Avondale area of
8Chicago, later moving to Bolingbrook, where he attended
9Plainfield East High School; after high school, he and his
10family moved back to the Pilsen area; he received a Bachelor of
11Science in Business Administration from the University of
12Illinois Chicago; and
13 WHEREAS, Officer Huesca was a member of the Chicago Police
14Department for six years, being assigned to the Calumet
15District Priority Response Team; during his tenure, he was
16noted for his bravery, making it his mission in life to connect
17with the community he served; and
18 WHEREAS, Officer Huesca was known not only as a kind and
19generous public servant but also as a humble, loving, and
20lionhearted man who was committed to his family; and
21 WHEREAS, Officer Huesca was the son of Edith and Emiliano

1Huesca; the brother of Emiliano Huesca Jr. and Liliana (James)
2O'Brien; the uncle of Owen, Olivia, and Isabella O'Brien; and
3the best friend of Officer Christian Calderon; and
4 WHEREAS, Officer Huesca made the ultimate sacrifice for
5the community he swore to protect, and he shall be remembered
6as a true hero to the people of Chicago and to his family;
7therefore, be it
8 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we mourn the murder of Officer Luis M. Huesca of the Chicago
11Police Department and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
